PostSubject: Faye Leprah's Class.   Thu Jun 09, 2011 8:30 pm

Faye Leprah stood at the window and watched the rain pouring down against it. Lightning ripped across the sky, a flash of silver-blue lighting everything up in her classroom. Back in Hawaii storms never made her nervous. She had known they were brought on by nature. At the Academy, however, it was like finding a needle in a needle stack. There were so many mutants this year, she doubted the Headmaster even had a clue what to do with them.

Normally, she would only have about 12-15 students in her class. But this year, she had about 25 students. It could be tough handling so many students, but she was confident she could do it. So far, she hadn't had many problems.

Faye walked over to her desk and leaned against it, crossing her left arm across her chest and holding her index finger pressed to her bottom lip. On rainy days her students met with her in this classroom. In about 1O minutes they would file into her classroom and the day would begin.

Gwen ran into the classroom as a rumble of lightning echoed outside and threw her bag over the desk she chose to sit at. "Okay, I know I'm early, but I reeeeeeeally hate being outside in this weather!" She said to no one in particular, her mind not even in the words she was speaking. She was more worried about Olive, the girl who she thought would be her first friend, but had dropped everything and ran away. Which Gwen didn't appreciate. She let out a huff as she decided that even if it killed her, she would make Olive her friend.
Gwen noticed her body had begun to turn a lethargic and upset purple. She looked up suddenly, as she felt Ms. Leprah's gaze on her. Her whole body flushed a sparkly pink as she felt a wave of embarrassment, as she usually did when people noticed her skin changing colours. Dammit, it's getting stronger. She tapped on her bracelet as she willed it to turn her back to normal. before she had came to Devon Academy, the bracelet hindered her colour-changing.

PostSubject: Re: Faye Leprah's Class.   Thu Jun 09, 2011 10:34 pm

The thoughts that had engulfed Faye dissolved and she was in her classroom again, leaning against her desk. She glanced around to see what had broken her from her thoughts, or rather, who had.
It had been one of her students, Gwendolyn Harrison. She was one of her students that had a little trouble controlling her power, but it wasn't as bad as the others. She was also one of her better students; Intelligent and friendly, Gwen did her work on time and caught on easily to the things that Faye taught.
Faye slid her gaze over to Gwen and watched as her skin turned to an upset purple, and when the girl noticed Faye watching her, her skin flushed a sparkly pink. Faye had always thought her power was strange, but it was very different than what she was used to.
"Let me see." Faye said as she walked over to her desk and leaned down, her hair falling forward and brushing the top of the desk. She peered at Gwen's bracelet and, after tapping her chin twice, turned on her heel and went through a drawer in her desk for several moments.
She returned with a bracelet that had light-blue diamonds strung on the string. The diamonds seemed to change from light-blue to an aqua colour and they clinked lightly together as she tied it around Gwens other wrist. Faye took a step back with her hands on her hips and nodded to herself.
"That should help," Faye said and smiled. "At night, take it off and put it in the moonlight. It'll be recharged by the morning. It won't make the connection between your power and mood completely severed, but it will dull it a bit."
Faye walked back to her desk just as Olive entered her classroom, soaked head-to-toe from the rain. Faye blinked in surprise and stared at her as she stood in the doorway drenched and dripping, a half-eaten pickle in one hand and the juice box Gwen had given her in the other.
"Erm. Would you like a towel, Olive?" Faye asked. Olive stared at Faye for several seconds and then shook her head, taking a bite of the pickle. The room was silent save for the sounds of the rumbling thunder and the crunching from Olive.
"Well, I'm going to get you one anyway. It can be quite chilly in here and it would be a shame for you to get a cold," Faye said, smiling again, and left the classroom before Olive could protest.
"I've always wondered what makes that woman so kind," Olive mused aloud and walked to a desk in the back, near the windows. She glanced over at Gwen, her mind connecting her to the girl from this morning. The first mutant here that had ever dared to approach her. What had made her do that?
Olive settled into the desk, her legs drawn to her chest and her chin rested on her knee. She watched the rain hit the windows and slide down with a blank stare.

Gwen blinked as Ms.Leprah held out her hand and took the bracelet with a look of humble confusion on her face. "..Uhm, thank you, Ms. Leprah." She glanced at the new bracelet on her right wrist. She wondered how it looked on her. However, before she could continue pondering this, she saw Olive walk into the classroom covered in rain. Her mind flashed back to that morning, and what had happened between the two of them. How dare Olive just give up so easily. Gwen wasn't always so welcoming to people, and now she knew why.
Whenever someone tried to get close to someone else, it never ended well. Even so, she was furious that Olive wouldn't even give her a chance. She was seething on the inside. As more students filed into the classroom, she stopped caring so much about what all of these fellow mutants thought. I'm not any more noticeable than any of them. I don't stand out moreso than they. She mused as she glanced at a tall female student hover in, with large, dragonfly-like wings and white-less eyes.
She took off her bracelet, and the new one that Ms. Leprah had given her. As soon as she took them off, her pale, faintly glowing skin burst into a shimmery rainbow of iridescent colours that flowed off of her, and followed after her like floating water. She glanced back at Olive, her anger coming back to the surface. Her colours became sharper and harsher, and they seemed to boil around her in anger.

Meredith jogged up to the door and checked the time. Good. There were still a good 9 or so minutes before class.

Three bees. Must not be too bad. One sounds pissed, though, she thought.

She caught the breath taken from her during her slight run, wrung her hair out to rid it of the rainwater, and stepped into the classroom.

She saw the two girls that she'd walked away from five minutes earlier. She just thought ohhhh, shit. Hopefully they wouldn't give her trouble for it. She didn't want to be bothered.

Meredith wondered if she'd ever get a chance to apologize. The colory one had been nice enough.

The colory one. For some rason she found this thought extremely funny. She just looked at The Colory One and burst into a small fit of giggles.

PostSubject: Re: Faye Leprah's Class.   Fri Jun 10, 2011 1:13 am

Suddenly, Olive's heart began to beat erratically. That feeling was back again! That feeling of being watched. It was so unnerving that Olive began to wish she could turn invisible. Why all of a sudden was she being stared at? She made it her goal in life to go unnoticed.

Because if I'm noticed, if I'm noticed... Olives thoughts were a mess. They were like paints mixing together and swirling about in a crazy mass, she couldn't keep track of what was what. It was beginning to feel like Alaska all over again.

Olive sunk lower into her seat as more students came in. She recognized the girl Meredith from earlier; the one that had been quiet like her. She considered running over to that girl and begging her to get her out of this classroom, but what was the point of that? She barely knew the girl!

Get a hold of yourself, Olive! No matter how strictly she told herself to calm down, it just wasn't working. As the crazy ride of emotion took Olive on a wild spin, the classroom began to flicker back and forth between Miss Leprah's classroom and what looked like a very old dungeon. Perhaps a dungeon that came from an ancient castle. Yes! That's where she had seen it. She had seen this dungeon in a book about castles and she had thought how it looked so suffocating, which is what she was feeling right now. Yes, that's right. She can't make friends because of this damn power. They never got used it, to how any place they were in with Olive could change by the tiniest thought.

The other students kept looking around in confusion as the room kept changing, the flickers becoming faster now. Olive knew she had some serious issues, but dammit, if she could just control this power! She could make friends. She probably would've made friends with the girls from this morning and this wouldn't be happening.

Then again ... It wouldn't be happening if that Rainbow Girl would quit staring at her! What was her problem anyway? Did she really enjoy making Olive uncomfortable or was she too oblivious to notice this? And why did she seem so mad at her? Olive hadn't done anything wrong. Had she? No, she didn't. She simply walked away to go to class, that was all. That wasn't a crime. Hell, she gave the girl a pickle and laughed. The girl deserves a gold trophy for getting Olive Zeveray to laugh!

Olive clenched her jaw and slowly the flickering stopped. She slumped in her chair, her forehead resting against the desk and she could hear herself softly panting. Her face was flushed a bright red from the fever that she now had. That onslaught of emotion and thoughts had been so extremely confusing; it was definitely one of the worst ones she had ever experienced. After so long of keeping a hold on her emotions, she had forgotten how terrible it could be if she let them get too out of control.

Olive dragged her eyes up and found Meredith again. The girl seemed quiet like her, like she wished to be alone. She couldn't help but wonder what power tormented her, or if it even tormented her at all.

"Olive? Olive, are you okay?" Miss Leprahs voice filtered through the din of student voices. Olive could feel the teacher gently tapping her on the shoulder. She sat up slowly and when Miss Leprah saw the feverish, wild look in Olives eyes, she wrapped an arm around her waist and helped her stand up.

"I told you you were going to get a cold, Olive." Miss Leprah said and laughed softly. Olive let the teacher half-carry her to the door and leaned against her supporting body. The scent of the ocean and lemongrass enveloped Olives sense when her head fell against the teachers shoulder.

"Damn. Hold on, Olive." Miss Leprah stopped and let go of Olive, who gratefully leaned against the wall, keeping her head down. Her gaze locked so stonily on the floor that it seemed like there was something very fascinating about it.

"Meredith, Gwen, would you girls mind taking Olive to the Infirmary? I have to stay here and prepare class." As soon as the words left Miss Leprahs lips, Olive looked up in alarm. She glanced from Miss Leprah to Gwen to Meredith and then back to Gwen. The Rainbow Girl. The one who was so determined to make Olive go crazy, it seemed. She didn't want to be near the girl, much less have her as an escort to the Infirmary.

"Miss Leprah, I'm fine. I don't need escorts." Olive blurted, a slight tone of desperation in her voice. Sure, life would be easier if she could make friends. If she weren't so afraid to, but the past didn't stay dead for Olive. It was something she had tried again and again to overcome, but it was damn near impossible.

Without another word, Olive spun on her heel and fled the classroom. While running down the hall, it flickered inbetween several different scenes of places she had been or had seen. Halfway down the hallway, Olive collapsed as a crippling migraine now attacked her.

Dammit! Since when did my behavior become like this?! She wasn't the indifferent and quiet Olive she become so used to being. She was reverting back to her old self.

And it was probably all because of that damn thunderstorm.

Gwen looked up curiously as the room shifted all of a sudden into various images, each more unsettling than the one before. it was quite strange, and she began closing her eyes waiting for it to be over. She felt more warmth invade her dermis, and she opened her eyes, looking around.
It had shifted back into a normal classroom, with Olive talking about something with Ms. Leprah. It looked like she was more upset than Gwen had ever seen her before about something, and she couldn't help but feel that it was sort of her fault. She shifted guiltily in her seat until Olive stood up and walked out of the classroom. More like fled, actually. Gwen was worried about this girl, despite the fact that she was entirely sure that Olive hated her by now. And why shouldn't she?
Gwen hopped out of her seat. Without the need to move her body at all, she seemed to float out of her seat. Putting her old bracelet and the new one Miss Leprah had given her in the side pocket in her messenger bag, she sprinted out of the classroom, looking for a hint of where Olive had gone. Gwen did a full 360 degree turn, completely clueless. The hall was completely silent, minus the faint pitter-patter of rain on the roof outside. She twitched violently as she felt a sudden jolt of intuition, and followed it.
Running as fast as she could, she willed herself to run faster until she spotted Olive outside in the rain. Gwen sauntered out of the door, and caught up with Olive finally. "Olive! I'm glad I could catch up with you." She stopped talking to catch her breath. "Look.... I'm really sorry I got so angry earlier. It's not your fault, and I think your powers are really cool. And I think you need a friend. So, I think we should skip class and go play Mario Kart in my dorm." Gwen looked unsure, hesitant of what Olive would say; she didn't want to get rejected.

Meredith had seen the other girl, the one without the colors, run off. She'd felt how her mind had buzzed with upset. After her giggle fit, Meredith had decided to go after the girl and confront her. She left the room and saw the other girl, the one with the colors, talking to the upset one. Meredith had no idea what to do, as always. So she jus stood there, watching from a distance.

Olive kept running down the long hallway even though she felt as if her lungs were about to explode. It was a painful sensation and one that she wished to be rid of as soon as possible. The only sounds in the hallway were the soft thuds as her feet pounded hard against the linoleum floor and the pitter-patter of the rain. She thought she heard someone call her name, but she couldn't focus on any one thing. Her mind was a scrambled mess, her face flushed a deep scarlet colour, and she could feel her hair slipping out of its pigtails. She didn't stop to fix it or to even see if someone had called her name, if someone was following her. She just had to get out because this was beginning to feel like her hometown in Alaska all over again.

Those terrible memories that had haunted her for months were slowly snaking back to her through the scrambled fog that was now her mind. Those last few days in Alaska at her old school--it was just like this! She had lost all of her friends because she was a freak and no one wanted to be best friends with a freak.

This was why she had such trouble making friends. The crippling fear of losing friends again, it was just so terrible. She was perfectly fine by herself; she didn't need to make friends. So then why did she wish she had a friend?

The fresh air felt refreshing and the cold rain immediately cooled Olive down. She took several steps down the sidewalk and then collapsed to her hands and knees, her head bent as she caught her breath and her fever subsided. She stayed like this for several minutes, intently watching the rain form tiny puddles on the sidewalk. The puddles rippled and moved until they all began to form a bigger puddle.

But then Olive heard a pair of feet in the distance, becoming louder as they got closer to her. Her eyes narrowed; she didn't want to be bothered. What she did want was to go back to her dorm and read, maybe listen to music. Or perhaps take a nap.

Olive pushed herself up and stood slowly as Gwen's words tumbled out of her mouth in a breathy rush. She hadn't caught all the words, but she thought Gwen was trying to apologize. She even suggested skipping class to play Mario Kart and Olive couldn't help the grin that tugged the corners of her mouth. That was something she had done back in Alaska with or without friends.

"You really are determined," Olive said finally, after several moments in the awkward silence that followed Gwen's little speech. She didn't speak again for a few more minutes, pondering what to do in her mind. Could it really be that hard to try?

"Alright, fine." Olive said and faced Gwen, attempting to smile. "But first I need to go to my dorm and change out of these wet clothes." Despite this strange day, Olive cracked a genuine smile and even began to laugh a little. She was so utterly soaked from the rain that it was amusing to her. Without waiting for a reply from Gwen, she began walking to the girls' dormitory, her hands clasped behind her back, and glanced over at Meredith. Had she been sent out here by Miss Leprah? Perhaps it was something else, something bigger than that.

Olive raised her hand and waved to Meredith in an attempt to be friendly, and then continued walking on.

Gwen smiled to herself as she considered herself victorious in first step in making friends. She looked at Olive, then down at herself as they were both soaked to the bone from all the rain. Gwen decided to then do what she was good at, play everything off. "Well, you wouldn't be soaked if you didn't decide to run away outside in the damn rain." She sneezed, as if her body was trying to emphasize with what she was saying. "And you'll leave me out in this rain? How rude. What if I get sick? I turn a gross green colour when I'm sick, it's not pretty."
Despite that she hadn't gotten so much as a invitation to follow along with Olive, she walked with her back to her dorm. Their feet pattered on the wet stone steps as they walked towards the large, old dorms. Old, but not ugly. Old in a proud and classy way. As they were walking, she spotted Meridith and pointed both thumbs up at her, indicating things had gone well. Gwen even threw Meridith her goofiest grin, until she just looked like one of those people from Jersey Shore with their plastered on grins. she hoped that Meridith caught that she was doing it on purpose.

((Bahahahah, Jersey Shore. XDD))

Olive tilted her head back to look at Gwen and arched her eyebrows. "Your dorm room is on the same floor as mine. While I change my clothes, you can change out of those wet ones and I can meet you there," she said quietly, though an amused look lit up her eyes.

Olive hopped from puddle to puddle until they reached the steps to the dorm and skipped up the steps. She didn't pause to see if Gwen was still following her as she headed up to her room on the third floor, her hands clasped together behind her back and she began to whistle. The dorm was mostly empty save for a few students who had the day off.

Meredith lifted her hand slightly in response to Olive's wave. She knew the bees were happy. She smiled back at Gwen, and proceded to collapse into laughter when Gwen smiled.

God. That girl's made me laugh twice in a day. This thought, for some reason, renewed her laughter.

When the laughter finally stopped, the looked around for the others. They were nowhere to be seen. Dissapointed, Meredith went back to the dorm. God, it's freezing, she thought.

Whatever. I'll just change. She started heading back to her dorm and just happened to see Gwen. Meredith stopped and just watched her, unsure of what to do.

Gwen stood there waiting for a second, then she spotted Meridith. She immediately ran over, her hair trailing behind her. ''Ello!" She smiled kindly and wondered what to say. 'Looks like you got jizzed on by god.' Saying that cused her to burst into laughter.
She continued talking. 'I love days that the dorms aren't busy. Like right now. But the rules suck. I do't follow them. I always sneak out after midnight and go into town, that place is so interesting."

--------------------------------------------------------
Back at Ms. Leprah's class, she continued teaching when she heard a quiet tap on the door. It opened slowlym and standing on the other side was a confused-looking student, a male with short white hair and dark eyes. He walked into the door, knowing that every pair of eyes in that classroom was on him, watching his motions, which terrified him. Juris spoke up, quietly. He hated being the center of attention. 'Uhm...... Miss Leprah... I'm new here and I need your assistance. If you don't mind......' He dropped his hands to his side and they began nervously twisting together, interlocking. He felt like Ms. Leprah would reject his question in front of the whole class.
((I made Ms. Leprah do it cause I love her xD. She could be one of the headmaster's favourite teachers. ))

Meredith got a kind of ah shit. feeling when Gwen saw her. She stood there awkwardly for a moment. When Gwen told her she looked like she'd been jizzed on by god, Meredith giggled a tiny bit. "I was going to go change soon," she said.

Gwen nodded. That makes sense. "Why would you want to stay in sopping wet clothes?'
After a moment of horrid awkwardness, Gwen could tell the other didn't want to talk to her.
'Well, I'll see ya! I'm on my way, also. There's a premiere tonight at the town's cinema, and I intend on sneaking out to see it. ' she put her headphones on, and turned it to A Skylit Drive.

Faye paused as she heard the quiet knock on the door and turned on her high heels as the door opened. She held a stack of worksheets in her arm, half of them passed out to her class already. She looked a bit puzzled as Juris quietly spoke to her. It was obvious he was nervous, and she could never turn down a student if they asked for help.

"Of course," Faye said, a small smile on her lips, "Fill out this worksheet while I'm gone, okay?" She spoke to the class as she walked back to her desk and placed the stack of papers on it. The class mumbled and shifted in their desks as Faye lead Juris out into the hall.

"What can I do for you?"

Juris follwed Ms. Leprah into the hallways, her Converse stopping on the checkered tile. She shuffled in place.
It was always awkward for her to try and explaijn her mutant-ism. Or awkward for him, depending on the day.
Oh well. Better to admitit now and get it out of the way, and answer questions later.
Besides, teachers were paid not to judge their students, right? One would assume her, teaching at this particular type of school, she got students like this all the time.
'Well...uh. you see. Part of my mutant-ism is that I don't have a set...' she paused, knowing this was the moment everyone would look at her with different eyes. 'I don't have a set gender. It switches back and forth, everyday, beyond my control. ' She exhaled softly & closed her eyes. 'And I have no idea which dorm someone like me should live in.'

A moment of silence followed Juris' words. Faye shifted and tapped her chin as she thought. It would be best for her to go to the headmaster and speak to him about this matter, but she could tell by the look on Juris' face that she rather not have to explain her mutant-ism again.
"Well, there are several other students here at Devon Academy who share a similar situation with yours," said Faye as she smiled kindly at Juris. "For them, it was a simple matter of choosing the dormitory to which they would feel most comfortable in. If you think you will feel more comfortable in one of them, please let me know. If not, I will speak to the headmaster about giving you the vacant room at the teacher dormitory."
Faye paused and laughed a bit. She pushed her bangs out of her eyes and adjusted her glasses before continuing.
"Of course, I know how dreadful that must sound. Staying in the dormitory with all the teachers? How embarrassing." The laughter in her voice now gone, she leaned against the lockers and tapped her chin again. She knew she would have to go talk to the headmaster about this; at least she wouldn't make Juris go through it again.
"Whatever you will feel most comfortable with, Juris, let me know."

Juris sighed, a thanks hanging in her voice. "Well, I'd prefer the girl's dorm. The guy's dorm smells like feet, and they're all pretty vicious over there. They tried to jump me, because I looked too....'faggot-y, or so someone said.' Juris looked down at his feet in embarrassment.

Faye wrinkled her nose as she thought of the smell of feet; she could hardly blame Juris for wanting to stay in the girls' dormitory.
"Well, I shall go talk to the headmaster now about getting you a room and meet you there, does that sound good?" Faye smiled kindly at Juris. Faye felt a fondness toward all her students, but she decided that she would do all she could to make things better for Juris; to make sure that the school year wouldn't be too terrible.
